So this fight which I thought was never going to happen, is apparently happening tonight.

It's being shown on Netflix, so most of you can watch it if you're curious.

In the pre-game videos Tyson looks real good - for a 58 year old.  But Jake Paul looks to be in good shape as well, and he's 27.

Tyson has a ton of fighting experience.  Jake Paul's experience seems to be mostly gimmick matches - but also some fights against legit boxers.  And let's remember - he's 27.

I'm not a Mike Tyson fan - remember this is the guy who went to jail for rape, and who bit off part of Evander Holyfield's ear - but on behalf of old guys everywhere you can't help root for him.  But I can't imagine this is going to end well.

Supposedly Tyson is a changed man, who has grown spiritually and become wise.

This seems like a bad set of qualities for a boxer.

I am not entirely sure who Jake Paul is but I vaguely get the notion he sucks. That and my 1980s Nintendo nostalgia puts me in a position where I emotionally kind of hope Tyson wins.

But maybe I am wrong and Jake Paul doesn't suck.

What're the odds that this is a real fight and not just a semi-choreographed brawl that ends with a pre-arranged winner?
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Could be, maybe Jake gets pointers from his brother Logan who's in the WWE.
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

Hopefully this Paul guy gets crushed. Apparently quite the POS.

So this is just the Wrestling business model now being used by boxing?

Have you seen Tyson's neck? Not sure Paul has what it takes to put a dent in that.

50/50 at best.

I mean - both Paul and Tyson have ties to WWE after all.

My understanding is it's a sanctioned fight, which theoretically should mean it's not fixed the way pro wrestling is.

On the other hand - it's not like boxing has a squeaky clean image...

As far as I know Jake's other fights were real. And whichever side of the leaf iron mike is on now, he's still a psycho.

Now whether a 58 year old still has it in him to go the whole way, I don't know, but that's where pharmaceuticals come in to play.

"Iron Mike" has had money trouble for years.

I doubt he really wants to get into the ring at this point in his life, but for a reported $20 mil payday he's probably willing to do almost anything.  Including (maybe?) take a dive.

He might want to take a dive, but like he said, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. He's a ear eating fighting machine.

And if he fails to take the dive, what's the other side going to do, complain? :D

Tyson probably gets his $20 mil no matter what.

But what side deals do they have, and for what money?

What Paul's camp would do is not pay Tyson.

Tyson biting Holyfield was over 25 years ago.  He's a much older man now.

Fair enough. I still think that crazy leopards don't change their spots.  But I guess we'll see. Well, I won't, since I'm not watching, but I'll probably watch clips :D

Maybe not change their spots, but 100% people slow down.

I see that in my job all the time.  All these criminal hell-raisers tend to just age out of the criminal justice system by their mid-40s.

That's where steroids come into play
