I did steal a sentence from Hondo when I taught in English. « The stories I could tell. So many of them true! »

I don't do meditation.  I drink alcohol to relax, like normal people.

New trailer for Skeleton Crew. Goonies vibes intensify.

Minor spoiler:

The song caught me off guard, though. The first few seconds of the trailer I was ... "Sounds a lot like ... nah, can't be." But it kept going, and, well the Huttese lyrics made it very clear. :P Still takes me back to being a 6-year-old kid when the song came out in 1982. -_-

I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

I'm so excited for this. It looks like an absolute blast. It's always a welcome development for me when what Star Wars is is redefined and made fresh while still keeping the heart of the universe intact.
"Everything that brought you here -- all the things that made you a prisoner of past sins -- they are gone. Forever and for good. So let the past go... and live."

"Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don't dare express themselves as we did."

Looks surprisingly decent.

*edit* what's the over under of them finding the new new new Death Star :P
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

Agreed. I feel it's always kind of been this way, but in the recent years there was such a strong push to continue working with the "known" characters, tropes and settings that it got at least in my opinion quite stale. Not saying that Disney should completely stop doing stuff like Ahsoka or Mando that ties into "the big story", but always happy to see new characters, settings and points of view, like in Andor, or Acolyte.

Woah, wasn't aware of that. Hate when they do this.

It certainly isn't ideal, but at least they didn't destroy it like all of the stuff at WBDiscoveryWhatever. Shelved means it might see the light some day.

QuoteLOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A new "Star Wars" film trilogy written by "X-Men" producer Simon Kinberg is in the early stages of development at Walt Disney Co, a source familiar with the matter said on Thursday.

Kinberg, who co-created animated series "Star Wars Rebels," also will produce the movies alongside Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.

I saw the news, but I failed to get excited for it - we've had so many of such announcements over the years that never go anywhere.

It'll be quietly shot behind the ear in 1-2 years.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Zoupa

I was the biggest SW nerd for over 30 years. I have all the comics, several versions on the original trilogy on VHS and DVD.

Unfortunately, with very few exceptions, Disney Star Wars has been crap in terms of percentage. Out of all the content release, I can say I enjoyed Rogue One, Andor and the Bad Batch. Maybe some of Rebels. The writing has been pretty terrible in the other stuff. Probably has to do with the volume of stuff pumped out. I gave up on Kenobi, Acolyte, and Boba Fett after an episode or 2. Ahsoka was terrible but I still finished it. I'm probably done with Mandalorian and don't think I'll watch the kids show Skeleton thing.

I am: teh sad.
