Cindy Williams...those of a certain age, and geography, may remember her as Shirley in Laverne and Shirley

I saw that Bob Cole was trending on Twitter and thought "oh no!"

False alarm - he's still with us. Phew.

RIP Barrett Strong, who sang Motown's first top 40 hit "Money" as well as wrote a number of Motown's later standards (with his partner Norman Whitfield) including "I heard it through the Grapevine," "Papa was a Rolling Stone" and "Just my Imagination."
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

The Larch

Burt Bacharach has passed away at 94.

Maybe one for the "Wait, he was still alive?" category.

Yeah, if asked I would have said "dead"

This one hits my younger self right in the gut.
I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

Today, it was announced that Jimmy Carter is on hospice, and Bruce Willis has progressive fronttemporal dementia.

:(
Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
I wish, I wish he'd go away...

On BBC news I noticed this almost tolkienesque paragraph about their epic journey:

QuoteMr Carter celebrated his most recent birthday in October in Plains, the tiny Georgia town where he and his wife were born between the First World War and the Great Depression, and where they returned when he left office.

"We have it in our power to begin the world over again"

Carter always had something of the Hobbit to him.  Do what he felt was right (either in the military, as a governor, as President, then as Post-President) then return to his roots.  He is (sadly for now) too smart, intelligent, and grounded to actually be seen as a great man.

Well I think 'history' will mark him higher in the years to come.

I think history will mark him as a great human, and a mediocre President.

And I for one hope I'm remembered as being a better human than being better at my job.

I hope history marks him as the president who best played a horrible hand.

Leiji Matsumoto, creator of Captain Harlock (Albator) died of February 13th. :(

Albator, along with Goldorak (Goldrake) were the defining animes of my youth.  Even Captain Future (Capitaine Flam) couldn't compare to them. :)

@Greyfox:  Don't even try to understand that X-Gen nostalgia :P
