My brother's family was visiting this weekend, man they buy my nephews a LOT of toys. Arriving in the morning, they'd already been to the town's toyshop to buy one a Britains digger and that was in the knowledge that their aunt had promised a trip to said same toyshop for later in the day.

I thought this might be a good thread for venting and semi-irrational complaints about relatives, and perhaps to take some of the burden off Syt for his American relatives, who are the only ones who regularly get criticised on Languish.

Some of my relatives also buy too many toys but none for me.

My uncle sort of flipped out when I said my babies weight in kilograms rather than in "English".
Unnaturally so.
I think the gammon have gotten to him.

What's "English" (sic) for babies? Pounds (not metric) or stones?  :P

Pounds apparently.
Which is not something I ever learned. When I was a kid I always just used stones. Seems to be the way a lot of non-medical people weigh babies though.

What's the deal with baby weight anyway? If the baby is fine it's totally irrelevant information, why is everyone obsessed with it?

It's a way to determine size for gifts, at the very least.
Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
I wish, I wish he'd go away...

You could always try metric pounds.  :P
