I will say as somebody who enjoys spectator sports than most other forms of entertainment, it was sure nice when the internet was not keeping you constantly informed about how the sausage is made.

While it is easier to be excited when younger, yet I still follow national squad football, the ever more tilted in favor of big clubs Champions' League, now only on pay TV (unlike 10-15 years ago), definitively lost quite a bit of interest.

If you are not careful it can make you lose interest in most things. It is a struggle.

But I would note the French one is more about football and the players, while the English one is broadly about football-adjacent things, as ever.
