She made her millions. She is retiring the day after her pension kicks in.

Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

I don't think she'll get it for another 12 years, and for just 5 years of service, it'll probably be fairly modest (but may still be higher than mine :hmm: ).

I'm not sure MTG puts much political calculus in anything she does, but I guess she wants to duck a nasty year for the GOP, and prime herself for the post-Trump years.

This is probably her best chance to cash in, as Valmy said she's eligible for her pension on January 5 and at the moment she's a media sensation (she's even been on The View) for defying Trump.  That's not going to last, so this is her best chance to join a cable news program or something along those lines.
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

From what I can figure, it looks like the pension would be ~$1200-1300/month, but not until she is 62.

As Sav said, she'll rake in much more cash from the media circuit.  Heck, she'll likely have a show on Fox/OAN/some other fringe network in short order.

I think she's just predicting that the Trump era is coming to end. She'll run for something in 2028.

Even if her aim is to be more of a POS than trump it is still encouraging that someone from The inner circle would feel secure enough to challenge the regime.

Inner circle?  I don't think she was ever that.  More like "useful idiot".

She was Qanon.  The break with Trump was over the Epstein files.  She was a true believer in this, so didn't understand that Trump's promise to release the Epstein files was just a cynical manipulation of the credulous.  I don't know if she came to the conclusion that the Qanon stuff was a fraud or that Trump was a fraud.  Either way, reality seems to have broken her.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011
