Easyish to WFH for me.
Though was meant to be in the midst of a move so getting started has been hard, my whole room is a mess. In this small flat too its not really possible to work when the girlfriend is home too.
Which will make things even harder from tomorrow.
She is working at a school so has been going to work so far, they've got a lot fewer kids though so are on a rota, she took the first shift.

Yeah and I started reading Thucydides last night.

Essential and not in quotes. I work in a homeless shelter established by the patrician Massey family. Walking to work daily. I just got an extension and increase in hours. We've had staffing issues because of fear and illness, so we had six temps in the kitchen today. They are all good to great.

Happy I am not working at home. Very Happy. Bindir Dundat.

You're a good man, Sask, and not in quotes.

Already worked from home (I've been in to the Office once in the last four months anyway.)

So, working from home waiting to see if the company is going to shut down for a while.

Working from home. All the ghastliness of the pandemic aside, it's very pleasant really.

I am a freelancer so I technically haven't been laid off, but all my gigs have been suspended/cancelled.

Same-ish. Most of what I was doing has been put on hold or advances at a snail's pace, so I'm using this time to do some training courses.

Freelancer and/or short-term jobs, on hold for now given the situation. Helping my mom now and some elderly person who cannot go out alone in normal times, let alone now.

Good on you Duque.

Wife and I are both considered essential but are both working from home.  I've been doing the WFH thing for years, though.

I guess I should be proud that in general they're self-sufficient?  :P
My mum always says she wishes she'd raised me to be less independent and needier

I'm WFH - as is the entire firm I think.

I don't do litigation much but the courts here are experimenting with video conferencing. Seen some barristers say it's very weird to get a judgment in your favour handed down from the Court of Appeal while you're sat in you living room.

Which firm/speciality did you land with Shelf?

I'm a partner in a small, quite new specialist planning firm of solicitors (10 partners 20 others). We shut down last Monday within an hour of Boris made his announcement, so a week an a half in.

It's been going OK so far but cash flow and future business is a constant worry. The business was flying before this but we've had to suspend partner profit distributions, pay rises, recruitment and bonuses for now. Staff have been very understanding.

Information/IT - mainly data and cybersecurity lately.

So far it's still going but very much dependent on the client sector/business.

Btw, can I just add that I shudder to think how this whole lockdown would have looked 30 years ago, in the days before widespread internet? :P

They might have been more effective back then. No Schengen/EU politics, no scruples about acting "paranoid/racist" early, no spreadsheet wizardry to give a false sense of control. Effective control measures that have worked since the medieval age. A much more decentralized patchwork with internal firebreaks on movement. All the pharmaceutical/PPE industry not stuck offshore, etc, etc.

I don't even now how you'd be able to order books/VHS from the shops after lockdown :o
