This would be a lot more fun if the occasional person dressed up as Wally

Germany has been in "lockdown light" for five weeks, but so far the case numbers are merely stagnating and death numbers are currently rising. They are now introducing further measures such as nightly curfews. I guess at the current high level it is not overwhelming the healthcare system yet, but Christmas is coming up when people will travel regardless of restrictions.  And of course hundreds dying every day is by itself not really great and the level of economic restrictions is killing some areas of the economy. So in the whole, they don't seem to know what more they are willing to do without risking widespread non-compliance and unrest but also the current measures don't seem to be enough.

With the shops opening again today, several big lot furniture stores are advertising 50% off on many items, vouchers etc. Tomorrow is a public holiday, but shops are open.

Great idea, folks. :bleeding:

I don't know how possibly one can make the crowd in the front of your pic, make look like on mine. :P
From where my pic was taken - zoom in on the "crowd" at the background. There's been loads of articles about it:
https://www.buzzfeed.com/joeydurso/coronavirus-social-distancing-lockdown-photos

Danish TV did a breakdown of the same group of people being photoed from two different angles:

Similarly Florida TV did the same - this photo of a Jacksonville beach drew a lot of attention for a lack of social distancing:

But they also took a photo from a drone:

I am very suspicious of any photos in the media about a lack of social distancing/rule breaking because it's clearly in their interest to print them (and in the photographers interests to take them - from a distance zoomed in) because outrage/anger sells. But there have been too many "scandals" about this that turn out to be complete nonsense.

Note that it works both ways. Photographers can use a long lens to reduce the separation between objects... but also a short lens to exaggerate it, like that drone photo (which probably would still look okay with a normal lens)  :P

The US had one million cases in just five days.

Well, when half your population is made up of Karens that would make you number one.

I'm assuming they will all go to healthcare workers or old age home workers.

so far, this is what they have announced.  other plans to follow as more doses are coming.

meanwhile, the US declining to order more than 100 million doses of the Pfizer vaccines in July is now scrambling to push a decree prohibiting the sale of said vaccine to foreign countries.

Just read that Ben Bova died from COVID a few weeks ago. :(  Loved that guy's novels.

Government is considering reopening restaurants for the holidays, because at least those environments can be controlled and policed.
I guess that's the level we're at now.

I have a lot of time for that woman purely because of her festive t-shirt

Also the nurse administering the vaccine did a lovely interview on TV about how proud she was to have played a little bit of a part and gave a shout-out to Filipino-Brits who are a small-ish community but huge in the NHS. There are loads of Filipino nurses working in the NHS so that was nice to see.
