The usual suspects are one short of a majority in the Senate and control the Supreme Court 5.5 to 4.5.

The question is, will the backlash provide more support for the usual suspects as pro-plague Dem voters switch or stay home? Or will the backlash help drive the Dem vote as people are repulsed by pro-plague crazies?

So timid action is unlikely to be the winning move. You need to present yourself as a strong alternative to the usual suspects.

Canada is at the book burning stage.  You need a little more than some green new deal to impress the world with your leftist radicalism :P
I don't do meditation.  I drink alcohol to relax, like normal people.

Democrats finally decided to pack the court, and being true to themselves, they negotiated themselves down to one additional justice.  :(

Duque de Bragança

I have seen anarchist demonstrations where communism was depicted as red fascism so why not. Totalitarism does not sound as good i guess.

Nice cinema reference though.  :D

I think this stuff is more about using anti-fascist lingo (ergo owning the libs and protecting themselves from criticism - or so they think) while also not actually agitating against the far-right they like.

Certainly, there is also the fact that given the general ignorance, fascism is a synonym of totalitarism, and Mussolini the real fascist, with his socialist background (not his worst characteristic) is pretty much ignored.

Race to the bottom (no pun intended before Sheilbh asks) has consequences.
