That point could have been made without an article.  :P

Sadly my usual photo hosting site now forbids me from posting pictures, for I steadfastly refuse to pay despite a million warnings.  They have finally carried out the threat to block me.  I am looking for another free hosting site.  In the meantime, l can only post links now.

I think it's weird to live in an age where monarchs and even popes just retire.
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

Are you a time traveler?

It seems perfectly natural to me.

As in most things I think it was the age of nationalism that fixed in our minds what is normal despite that age completely deviating from the norm.

I think Akihito is determined to be the opposite of his father.

Kinda but then again these men are being reasonable & quit before senility takes them since they are so, so old.

We live in an age where the rich and powerful can regularly push 100, so I can see where it would become more common.

Given their neighbors, the Japanese could use a little militarism.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.
