Paradox has not avoided that sort of serious shit before though :hmm:

I mean how is this different than Heresies from CK2 becoming the new Orthodoxy?

How is displaying the start of Christianity and Islam not more controversial?

I mean they special code to occlude Muhammad.

I think it is about the same amount of controversy as having Yazidis or Zikris become the True Islam(tm)

I mean unless they don't occlude Muhammad. That would definitely take it to the next level.

Well you'd also be able to torture, kill, have gay sex with and otherwise humiliate Muhammad that you can't do in CK2. Same to Jesus really.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Ok good point. I mean sure you could do all that to the Pope and Caliph but maybe the big JC and Moe shouldn't be actual characters in the game.

Oh of course that actually exists.

So, the big fight on the Pdox forum is currently between the minimalists and the maximalists.

Minamilists say that the whole Indian subcontinent is not necessary, the Indus river valley is enough. They say that adding all of India distracts from the Mediterranean/Hellenic focus of the game, and that adding the whole Maurya Empire is bad for game balance. They say it will be like Ming China in EU and never fall apart when it should, and will blob all over the map.

Maximalists say that the whole Indian subcontinent is not enough. The Warring States of China and the neighbors they interacted with, the kingdoms of Korea and Vietnam should be added. There is some disagreement within this faction over whether Japan (currently in the neolithic) should be added as a target for Korean colonies. They argue that the game is as Romecentric as Crusader Kings is Crusade Centric, i.e. not at all, the name is just a marketing gimmick and it's an iron age simulator. The East, despite the fact that it won't interact much at all with the West, or even with India, is an interesting place to play in and of itself and that's enough.

If you include the medditeranian civilizations you have to include persia on their East.
If you include persia then you can't let them have an easy end of the world border on their east.
China meanwhile is quite seperate from India.

Yeah, it's probably the era with closest relationship between India and the West until the times of the British Empire, really. I personally look forward to play with one of the Indo-Greek kingdoms. I get the idea behind including just the Indus Valley since that's the area that had closest ties, but it would feel like an artificial barrier if you chose to play in that area.

China and Korea is a bridge way too far though, better keep focus and leave those out for later, if at all.

Still wonder how are they going to model nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes, which is a huge deal for this era. They never quite got it right in CK2, imho.

garbon

Indeed, their CK2 nomads weren't really nomadic apart from the special event Magyars.  WtWSMS tried a bit with their nomad cb.

Isn't this period one of the best ones for China in a paradox game though? It's split into 7 different states and is bordered by states of relative similar power. Altogether different then trying to manage a huge blob in Eu4
