Game looks like I'll buy it.
Women want me. Men want to be with me.

Why is this rated PEGI 16?  :hmm:
It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

I don't see why that would at all be the case for Rome.

I was thinking more of most nations at the time with Rome being the main slightly more globally focused one.
Nonetheless, events in Rome should be at least equal to the empire, more important even. But the way the game seems set up with the map focus I really worry they won't matter at all.

Violence, at a guess.

CK2 has child murder, kidnapping, rape, incest, etc and it's PEGI 12

Slavery?

And if CK2 were to come out today would it get the same rating or would they consider differently?

EU4 also has slavery and genocide.

Info on why that start date

https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/why-i-think-303-304-is-the-wrong-start-date.1099171/&sdpDevPosts=1

Quote from: Trin TragulaHere are some things we like about the 304 start and why we moved it from the pyrrhic war start in the previous game:

  • Successor struggles far from settled: Antigonus is still alive and has the support of many of the Greek cities. Strong, and in some ways popular, but with more or less all the other successors against him. You still have a window to change history here, Antigonus is still quite old however and even if something like Ipsos might not happen he can't live forever. Meanwhile both he and other successors have started naming themselves kings and looking for how to secure their legacies, even if they can't reforge the empire of Alexander.
  • Mauryas and Seleucids still have to decide on how to proceed in their conflict in the east. The eastern satrapies are effectively in Mauryan hands and how that conflict is settled will (and did) have an impact on the war in the west.
  • Rome is strong but not too strong. We are basically starting around the end of the 2nd samnite war and Rome is not in a bad position. There is still a lot of work to do however in unifying Italy and defeating Carthage. As this is a game about republican Rome we wanted you to feel you actually build the state the world came to know.
  • Returning to India the Mauryas are strong but have not yet expanded south of the borders of the Nandas. They have other things to do than just fighting Seleukos.

Quote from: Trin TragulaYes Seleucid strength was basically the biggest problem with the pyrrhic start date of Rome 1 in my opinion.

It's  a good argument I think.

Pfft, game will be a bust.  It will probably let a small state rise to conquer the entire Mediterranean region in just a couple of centuries.
I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

The political map is about right for 450AUC which would be 303BC  :smarty:
