Speaking of charity, I had a couple cases of Spam with a year left on the best by date. So off to to poor folks it goes.

I'm very active with our regional food bank. I donate a substantial amount to it annually, encourage my partners to similarly contribute, sit on its board of directors, and work in the warehouse at least quarterly.  It's good for an otherwise malignant soul.

A food bank collects donations of food from retailers and farmers and redistributes the food to soup kitchens, battered women's shelters, homeless shelters and the like, who use the food for those who would otherwise go hungry.
