Played Magical Kitties Save th e Day on NYE.  I enjoyed it. Would play more.

Played a one shot D&D game 5E at the local cat cafe.  Played a cat themed player race.  The cats ignored us at first but later decided the dice and game markers were the most important things in the world.

Anyone familiar with Trudvang? I've been reading up on it as FreeLeague is currently Kickstarting a new version. I absolutely *love* their The One Ring game and am intrigued by Trudvang. Apparently they're using their new Dragonbane system as a base to work from?

I'm familiar with the original Drakar & Demoner game and setting that is what Dragonbane evolved from (essentially it's a different evolutionary offshoot from Runequest). Trudvang, I believe is a house setting that evolved from the Drakar & Demoner implied/ default setting.

The vibe is, I'd say, "Mossy Scandinavian fantasty" (which I adore) which will have some commonality with the grounded, journey focused vibe of the One Ring. Basically, I think it's more of a "it's a fantasy roleplaying game built more around Scandinavian and European sensibilities and history in terms of scale and social relations" in contrast to the "it's a fantasy roleplaying game built on a Wild West sense of scale, sitcom sensibilities, and superhero character archs" that is modern D&D.

I'm not intimately familiar with it, though.

  Looking at the Kickstarter I was shocked at how the average pledge per backer was something like $1,200.

... but it's not. It SEK, which turns into a somewhat more reasonable US$ 140.

 Yeah. The SEK shenanigans I've kind of gotten used to after backing a few of Free League's TOR stuff, but it makes the unlocks a bit annoying to figure out when the total in the post are in SEK and the overall totals are in USD. I spent all morning reading up on the setting and I think it seems really awesome. I might just have to back it!

I have some of the old books (in Swedish), don't remember if I ever actually played it though.

I've been really stocking up on the reprints of the Edge/FFG Star Wars Roleplaying system lately, especially Edge of Empire. Who knows, I might actually run a game again one of these days!

The dramatic dice system is very impressive and, I think, solves one of the issues I have with a lot of RPGs, so here's hoping it works in practice as well as in principal.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Nice! I have the starter sets, but haven't gotten a chance to play yet. My first ttrpg was WEGs Star Wars and my first long campaign was Star Wars d20 edition, so Star Wars ttrpgs have always held a special place in my nerd heart.

Ironic RE: the WEG version, as I also have several of those. I'm somewhat in the middle of studying both of them to decide which my players will tolerate more. WEG's is so clean and straightforward, it's hard to resist, but the Edge system's drama mechanics are probably going to tilt me that way.
