I still have some some religious icons in my house.  I have a crucifix in two places in my house, and both times I left them there because:
a) they were put there by my mom long ago
b) they match perfectly with their surroundings
c) I'm too lazy to begin searching for other form of arts of the same size that will match the colors of their surroundings.
