I wouldn't worry about it, since as it stands it looks like Trump is throwing Israel under the bus for this. So I'm sure the pro-Israel lobby will be in full force to kill it stone dead, or at least neutralise it.

I think it's the other way around. This seems a clear indication that the Israel lobby in the United States has lost considerable clout both on the right and the left.

The Israeli lobby in the US government is live and well.  The only thing the Saudis need to do to get nuclear tech is sign onto the Abraham accords.

And in case you thought this was just a hare brained Trump move, the idea of trading nuke tech for normalizing relations with Israel was a Biden administration initiative.

Of course the elephant in the room is the Saudis have said they will only normalize relations if there is a clear roadmap for a two state solution.

Nothing had changed on policy.  What has changed is that the public policy is irrelevant, at least to the US side.  What matters is that a nuclear development accord presents enormous additional opportunities for graft, bribery, and kickbacks of all kinds.

Haven't seen the details but the core of the deal is that US contractors would be hired to construct facilities, license technologies, and provide consulting support.  So billions of dollars flowing to US entities. Which companies will benefit?  Based on 2025-26 precedents, those that either kick back the most to the Family or that secure advance investments from the Family prior to contract announcement (insider trading).  From the Trump perspective what matters isn't the subject matter (nuclear) but the fact that a lot of money is involved that flows in a lot of directions, meaning many points of contact for graft covered by a more complex paper trail.

Trump Tries to Change Terms of Saudi Nuclear Deal—After It Was Signed

In a Truth Social post, Trump demanded that Saudi Arabia normalize relations with Israel via the Abraham Accords before getting any U.S. nuclear technology. He also claimed "there will be no enrichment of material," though the deal certainly opens the door to uranium enrichment in the country.

"The Civil Nuclear Deal (There will be no enrichment of material!) being made between the United States Department of Energy and Saudi Arabia, which pertains only to non-military use such as the ones that Iran and UAE (and others) already have, will be approved, but is totally subject to Saudi Arabia joining the very respected and successful Abraham Accords," Trump wrote. "The United States is not opposed to Civil (Non-Enriched) Nuclear Facilities."
