The way things are going, the World Cup being held this year must surely be in doubt now.

Well, if that doesn't get him the Nobel Peace Prize, nothing will.

I am sure Gianni will come up with something.  :P

The fox maga crowd has taken xenophobia to all new levels.

All our problems must be from our two neighbors, and foreign passport holders...  :hmm:

How is the US population responding to the attack on Venezuela? Are we seeing a rah-rah-US rallying around the flag effect, or is there some level of concern about foreign adventures?

I predict mostly neither, but the concern over adventurism will mostly be about legality/politics (e.g. is it a war powers act violation, etc).

Too early to see, but might be taken as just another Panama/Libya, etc.

As long as it pays for "Johnny" Infantino and the other FIFA bosses, they don't give a shit. Last two venues were Russia and Qatar after all.

Surprise at the moment.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I guess it'll settle down along partisan lines pretty soon.

How seriously do you think should we take the US administration's messages regarding Mexico and Cuba in the wake of the attack on Venezuela?

As always. it's impossible to really tell.  The administration spews so much shit that it's possible that there might be a pony in there somewhere.

It has to be assumed that the US is serious about attacking Canada and Denmark. A lesson of the 1930s is that countries don't joke.

Indeed...there's even a non-zero chance that we convict Maduro and then Trump pardons him.

Yep, might as well auger the future with your hands in bird's entrails.

Nonetheless, decision makers in Canada and Mexico have to assess the possibilities and act accordingly  <_<
