So, Trump proves once again that he has not yet reached Peak Trump.  He has nominated Emil Bove, his hatchet man at DoJ, to the 3rd Circuit. It's hard to imagine that there is another person with a law degree that is more experientially, ethically, and temperamentally unsuited to a lifetime judicial appointment, let alone one at the circuit court level. This is a worse nomination than his Matt Gaetz nomination.

Lots of sleazy conduct is coming out of the woodwork (which shouldn't be necessary, since his very public political hatchet-work should be disqualifying) including that he told DoJ officials to defy court orders and admonished those who communicated in writing about the renditions, because written matter created a paper trail Bove wanted to keep from leading to him. Decisions were to be made and passed down purely by voice calls.

But the Republican majority is going to confirm the nomination anyway, because they love the taste of Trump's dick and want to make sure that they continue to have access to it.

Thom Tillis (R-NC and not running again) squelched the nomination of Ed Martin because Tillis vowed to prevent the nomination of anyone who expressed any support for the Jan 6 insurrection?  Now he's decided that the fact that Bove merely firing every DoJ staffer involved in any of the Jan 6 prosecutions is not a disqualifier. Why be consistent, eh?

Just focusing on the known public conduct by Bove in the last six months, he masterminded and implemented a felony extortion conspiracy targeting Eric Adams, perjured himself before the district judge in the inquiry on the matter, purged the SDNY of ethical prosecutors who refused to participate in his felonies, organized a scheme to obstruct justice in the deportation flight incident, and then committed criminal contempt of court, by personally directing DHS to let the flights go in violation of a district court order.

His only contact with a federal circuit court should be filing his doomed appeal of his multiple federal criminal convictions.
