The Minsky Moment

Popehat's statement is too sweeping,

"Noisy withdrawals" ARE permitted in the US generally and PA in particular if the specific circumstances warrant.

So either Marcus committed  a big ethnical no-no or something really bad is going on.

I don't know anything about him but his bio says he got a JD from UCHi and he clerked for a federal appeals court judge,  He probably  isn't a dummy.  He has been actively practicing for decades.

I would assume that a lawyer in that position would at a miminum consult with his law partner and probably at least one other outside lawyer, with expertise in attorney ethics and/or criiminal law before doing this.  I can't be sure that happened but that is what would be normal.

It's possible Marcus is a an unethical loose cannon who managed to avoid disbarment for decades but it is also possible that he found himself  in a very bad situation, and rationally weighed the risk of being accused of violating his duty to a notoriously aggressive and vindictive client on the one hand, and potential personal criminal liability for his client's actions on the other, and concluded the latter risk was worse than the former.  If so - it would have to be something pretty bad.

Malthus

One thing is certain, this has to be the noisiest of noisy withdrawals in the history of that state ... it certainly has whetted my curiousity as to what prompted it.

Any speculation on what crime(s) the Trump campaign used this lawyer's services to perpetrate?

I haven't the slightest idea.

The case where he was counsel hasn't had any activity in the last 2 months and is effectively moot now. That would suggest in favor of the popehat view that this is just unethical grandstanding.

But Trump and his advisors are so off the rails now who really knows?

The Brain

Maybe he discovered that Trump doesn't pay bills and threw a hissy fit?

Well, at least the lady on the left seems happy.

I guess for this one day, in this one location, the right wing aversion to masks did us some good.

Elaine Chao (Transportation Secretary, and Mitch McConnell's wife) resigns.

Of course that means she's can't participate in 25th Amendment procedure.

How to get on an FBI watchlist in one post:

I admit I struggle to feel any sympathy for any enabler or hanger-on or sycophant who now, as the gravy train derails, has the epiphany who and what Trump is and feigns outrage. They might be worse than the hardcore Trumpers in Congress.

One can applaud the actions of today, while not forgetting the actions of the day before.

I would like to hear some Senators say they regret their vote not to convict during impeachment.
