There's now a spat going on over the UK ambassador's private assessment of the Trump 'administration'

Trump has doubled down and will refuse to see/work with him, whilst at the same time taking an undignified swipe at departing PM May.

This morning Pierce Morgan first declared kids with anxiety snowflakes, then proceeded to furiously defend Trump over the above tantrum.

So nice to see such unrelenting love, even in unrequited.

Trump was unhappy with the contents of the emails of the UK ambassador which have been leaked.

Best thing is that this incident shows the British ambassador was on the money with his assessment.

I mean I would be upset if the UK Ambassador said something publicly against our President, even this particularly shitty one. But surely the ambassador needs to be able to do his job and report his opinions to his government. Our government has no grounds to be upset here, we would expect exactly the same sort of thing from one of our own ambassadors. This is a personal matter and the President is abusing his office if he makes his personal matters public business.

Granted I don't know the context or content of the emails.

On Sunday, scathing comments about US President Donald Trump made in leaked diplomatic cables by Britain's ambassador to the US, Kim Darroch, were published in a British newspaper.
In the messages, Darroch called the leader of the free world "inept," "insecure," and "incompetent." He said that Trump's career could "end in disgrace" and even said of alleged collusion with Russia that "the worst cannot be ruled out."

[...]

The Daily Mail were the first to publish excerpts from the leaked emails.

It would seem a major Farage-ist journalist wrote the article and her ilk tried initially to push for naming Farage as the next ambassador.

But I think they miscalculated, they thought the rest of the public opinion is also as subservient to the American Right and Trump in particular like they are.

Valmy

Ok they were diplomatic cables. That is a perfectly understandable place for him to make assessments. The President is abusing his office by taking it personally.

Yeah, if he'd said Trump was open to reasoned opinion and someone a future UK PM/government could work with it would be.

As you say he was on the money, also his initial assessment of Trump at the start proved accurate.

I think it would be easier on you if we all just assume this, and leave you the opportunity of one day pointing when he hasn't.

I was just saying what I would be thinking if this situation involved generic President of the United States rather than one specific buffoon.

Don't worry 'we'll' be electing our very own one specific buffoon shortly.  :bowler:

I can totally see why you would want Farage out of the country.  Of course I'd want him sent to Mongolia or something.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Looks like the ACA may be done unless Roberts saves it on the appeal again.

Don't think Trump is thinking this through to put it mildly. If 20 million plus lose their health insurance, he's going to be blamed.
