Bye bye Mueller.

I wonder if they'll leak whatever draft reports have been written before he gets canned this weekend.

Wasn't there talk he might release the report this week?

Trouble is he releases the report to the AG.

I don't think Trump is even capable of a 'will no one rid me of this troublesome priest' moment, he'll just straight out ask someone to wack Meuller:

According to NBC News, Voters Nationwide Disapprove of the so-called Mueller Investigation (46%) more than they Approve (41%). You mean they are finally beginning to understand what a disgusting Witch Hunt, led by 17 Angry Democrats, is all about!

Well get used to more of those buddy!

It's my understanding that he is under no obligation to release his report to the public. I might be wrong though

More than that - the report is to only go to the AG.  Releasing it publically would be a violation of justice department rules.

Is <Rosenstein> acting AG now?

No: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/11/07/us/politics/sessions-resigns.html?action=click&module=Spotlight&pgtype=Homepage

Quote[...]

Mr. Sessions delivered his resignation letter to the White House at the request of the president and Mr. Trump tapped Matthew Whitaker, Mr. Sessions's chief of staff, as acting attorney general. In that capacity, Mr. Whitaker assumes control of the Russia investigation, raising questions about the future of the inquiry led by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III.

Mr. Whitaker has previously questioned the scope of the investigation. In a column for CNN last year, Mr. Whitaker wrote that Mr. Mueller would be going too far if he examined the Trump family's finances. "This would raise serious concerns that the special counsel's investigation was a mere witch hunt," Mr. Whitaker wrote, echoing the president's derisive description of the investigation. Mr. Mueller has subpoenaed the Trump Organization for documents related to Russia.

[...]

Installing Mr. Whitaker could clear the way for Mr. Trump to force out Mr. Mueller. To dismiss a special counsel, the president has to order the attorney general or, in the case of a recusal, the deputy attorney general, to carry it out. Mr. Rosenstein has said that he sees no justification to dismiss Mr. Mueller. Mr. Trump has already fired James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director originally overseeing the investigation.

Mr. Whitaker's ascendance to the top of the Justice Department shows how much loyalty means to Mr. Trump. The president has long regarded Mr. Whitaker as his eyes and ears inside a department that he considers an enemy institution.

Well then, I guess the investigation is fucked and Trump can get back to being a full-time Russian vassal now.

How good will that be, though? Mueller has apparently been very skillful in his investigation and it's taken him almost two years so far. And will any potential new investigation have to start from scratch?

I'm sure the house will subpoena a copy.

From the DOJ, who will then refuse, and the SCOTUS will rule in their favor.

Seems pointless to fire Sessions now.  Even if the next man up firea Mueller the new House can just make him special council of their investigation.

The House can demand to see Mueller's evidence.
