Oh my God she wrote a book!  In hardcover no less!  The Hillarycoup is imminent!

Republicans have gone Full Erdogan.
You have to give it to Republicans:  their success in character assassinating Hillary was complete beyond all measures.  She'll be a useful boogeyman even long after she dies.

So the big headline for the day was Manafort being arrested, but that all had to do with his Ukrainian lobbying and not with the Trump campaign.

Much more interesting though is news that Trump campaign aid George Papadopolous pled guilty back in July to having repeated meetings with Kremlin-associated Russians in order to gain information on HIllary Clinton, and to keeping the Trump campaign apprised of this information.

You think things are going to be left intact?

Not at all,  There will continue to be disarray hurting the party for a period of time.  But at some point, leadership will emerge to set things on a new course.  GOP may take a beating in next year's mid-terms.  We may have a Democrat win the White House in 2020.  Or President Pence could step up and stabilize things.  Who knows?  But the GOP will recover, and probably faster than a lot of you would hope.

Several times after big elections in the past three decades we've heard how the GOP or Democrat Party is in shambles, dead, out of power for a generation, etc. but each party always seems to recover.

What does it mean for GOP to recover?  If they become a highly effective and unified soft fascist party, would that qualify as recovery?

The concern isn't that the Republicans are going to be out of power, it's that they are abandoning many of their core values (some of which used to have cross-party consensus, but as everybody knows anything the Dems support must be evil) for ultra-nationalist, isolationist, 17th century mercantilist beliefs.  If this is their platform going forward the best case result is that they'll be out of power for as long as they cling to it.

How about right now.  I'd be happy with that.

Who do you think hopes the GOP doesn't recover from this period of insanity - other than Trump supporters of course.

This IS the recovery.  This is the new course after the disastrous Bush administration.  Trumpism is really more of a reaction against Bush than it is against Obama.  There is no going back at this point anymore than the GOP can go back to the party of Lincoln or the party of Coolidge.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I don't know. I think its because Obama and Hillary. It started with the Tea Party IMO obstructing Obama.

It has to do among other things with filing false info/omitting info on tax returns.

So no worries for Trump, right?

I think it goes back to shock radio figuring out there was money to be made demonizing the non-right wing electorate.

Hillary wrote another book nobody is going to read. Not sure how that is keeping in the news. Writing self-justifying books is what retired generals and politicians do. Would she playing shuffle board on the senior cruise also be too much?

Yep. Big money to be made in destroying the US.
