US Ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa Scott Brown says cultural differences prompted an investigation into comments he made that caused "offense" at an event in Samoa -- and that politics might have played a part as well.

Brown confirmed that he is the subject of a State Department inquiry after complaints were made after he told participants at a celebration in the Samoan capital of Apia that they were "beautiful" and could make "hundreds of dollars" in the services industry.

"We've reached one of our phase lines after the firefight and it smells bad—meaning it's a little bit suspicious... Could be an amb—".

Well if Warren hadn't taken his job, he'd still just be in the senate!

Didn't we already know this?

Must...keep...in...news...

Because Vince Foster didn't die in vain.

It's the mainstream media that is keeping this in the headlines, not your Infowars kook types.  I guess one revelation is the Clinton campaign had lied about funding the Steele dossier hoax.  But that's not really a man bites dog thing.

The Minsky Moment

I don't have a problem with the story being run.  It's a story.  Not every story has to be the headline of a decade.

What's a little odd is how aggressive the President's media surrogates are flogging this.  The Steele dossier, already partially corroborated , is not exactly flattering for the President.  The uranium one story, implausibly being spun as a diabolical Russian effort to disarm the US, raises the obvious question - if Russia is such a devious and dangerous adversary, shouldn't we be concerned that their preferred candidate is now in the WH.

The only way it makes sense is if the WH thinks a shit storm is coming and trying to prime up their core people with their line of defense in advance.

American politics is in Waiting for Godot mode.  There's a lot of pointless talk and nonsense but somewhere off scene, Mueller is working away. The way Trump and their people are playing these stories would suggest they are very worried.

Hoax?
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Someone hired by someone hired by someone hired by the Clinton campaign isn't a hoax.
