p sure none :D

Hilarious right?  :D Like, families torn apart and shit  :D

LOOOOOLZ

LaCroix

a sizable majority of the united states doesn't seem to care about that

I think it's crazy just how much of american social media is apparently dominated by the vocal minority. the backlash over trump's EO was absolutely huge the past few days, but the majority of the US actually agrees with the decision

Oexmelin

1,000 people answering a phone survey last week is not "the majority of the US"

What was the wording of the question?

the sample is a little low for a pop in excess of 300 000 000, yeah.  The error margin must have been fairly high.
I don't do meditation.  I drink alcohol to relax, like normal people.

If Microsoft Excel decided to stop working overnight, the world would practically end.

Admiral Yi

The size of the population being sampled has no bearing on the sampling error.

Oexmelin

No, but the composition of the sample does.

But then again, it probably pales in comparison with the wording of the question:

"Do you favor or oppose a temporary ban on refugees from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen until the federal government improves its ability to screen out potential terrorists from coming here?"

http://fox61.com/2017/01/30/qu-poll-almost-half-of-american-voters-support-trumps-immigration-order/

The poll showed American voters support 48 – 42 percent "suspending immigration from 'terror prone' regions, even if it means turning away refugees from those regions."

Looks legit.

LaCroix

the wording of the question is how trump's administration has justified the ban. so, a sizable majority agrees with trump's justification of the ban

FunkMonk

Tbh it isn't surprising. We Americans love our security. We built two giant moats around our country for crying out loud!! And we banned the Chinese

What would be interesting to see are the results to a poll question that asked, specifically, if the respondent approved of a "ban on all Muslims" entering the country. That would be telling.

I find it interesting that the story and the related links all avoid telling us what the question actually was, and how many alternatives to the question they attempted. Even with the existing wording, they didn't get a majority supporting trump's actions.

Boris Johnson setting the bar

QuoteTory MP Philip Davies says Donald Trump is "a democratically elected president of our closest ally and our single biggest trading partner" who is fulfilling his election promises.

A state visit is "absolutely in our national interest", he argues.

Boris Johnson tells the House that he believes "both Nicolae Ceausescu and Robert Mugabe have been entertained by Her Majesty".

this morning, the radio quoted our democratic senator as saying, "this immigration ban threatens american lives," and I thought about how dumb that must sound to the average voter. if the democrats get into a frenzy over things people actually don't mind, then they're not really helping themselves for 2018

Except, of course, that people do mind what trump does.  Sounding dumb is no bar to getting elected, as trump has amply demonstrated.

the evidence is starting to pile up that people don't actually care about the things a lot of posters here think they should be caring about
