I think the point is well taken that who cares if they actually are racists. I'm not interested in playing some game where they can hide behind being demonized for something that they are/aren't.

If they are permitting racist actions and encourages racists to act racist, yeah that's all that is sufficient to find them repugnant. So why Bannon is awful regardless of whether or not at heart he is a racist.

There are things I like about the US electoral system.  I'm not too fond of the rethoric 1 person = 1 vote.  People don't have individual issues, they have collective issues.  And having a country represented by one person who has to travel 2200km to see all its constituants is not the same has having 1 representative walk 500m to meet everyone.

Say, on issues like environment, if we let the cities decide for ourselves, we would never extract any wood.  In fact, it's what happenned, and it weakened the lumber industry, lettint it unable to defend itself from other attacks.  Now, we have whole villages deserted because their resource is rotting in the nature.  We build windmills because of pressure from Montrealers, with little or no gain to the areas they were built in, and we can't seel the electricity at profit because it costs too much to produce.

While good in theory, it simply means the big cities decide for everyone else, without their consent, for what will happen.  You get a voice, but you aren't heard.  And money wise, since we tax our income&spending wealth and most natural resources belong to the government, the regions again get shafted by the cities. Oh?  You have oil you say?  You know it belongs to the government, right?  That wood over there?  Also mine.  That rich mineral?  It's yours, but you gotta pay the central government a royalty.  Then the government will give you scrap.  And pretend to be doing you a favour by repairing a dangerous road that creates accidents.  Because, you know, if 1 person = 1 vote, than 1 million person = 1 million votes and repairing a pothole in Montreal is much more important than repairing that curve where 5 people a year get killed.  Or making sure those wonderful security measures you put at the bottom of a dangerous slope actually work as intended and do not act as a springboard for heavy trucks entering it and have the drive literally jump to his death.

No, in the era of rep by pop, it is not as important as making sure there's enough financing and tax breaks for visual arts, so long as they are in Montreal.  Better to win 1 million people than keep 5000.

To be racist you have to believe an ethnic group or race is worst or better than others.

Now, if you ask me about religion, I do consider Islam to be a cancer in this world that accounts for most of the slave trade, discrimination, and persecution currently going on in the world. There are no minority rights in the muslim world. But this has nothing to do with race or ethnicity.
I got no problem whatsoever with arabs, persians, turks, etc who denounce Islam for what really is and come and assimilate into western culture.

Yes it was and I support those institutions that continue to make it so. Such as The Senate, the enormous local power of states and municipalities, and even the Congress is not completely proportional as each state gets at least one and the territories each get none. But the President is not an agent of the states, he or she is an supposed to head the executive branch of the Federal government and, as such, must derive his or her legitimacy from all of the people. Even those living in the territories for whom the President wields tremendous power over.
