What about claiming Presidential Privilege about things that happened before he was inaugurated?  Seems fishy.

More than fishy.  Doesn't work.

Doesn't matter, since the guy running the investigation is clearly taking his orders from Trump.

I have to wonder, if (when) Donald completes 8 years as President, who would he choose as his successor? It would have to be someone he could trust to not investigate the massive corruption in this administration. :hmm:

The Minsky Moment

Guys I think the probabilities of the nightmare scenario are receding.  This is not a popular confident administration seeking an avenue to enlarge and institutionalize its power.  Its a wounded administration that seems to be playing for time as the investigators close in.

Indeed, it seems like the "Bozo the Clown" scenario is playing out.

My nightmare scenarios were more about wielding the power of the exective in destructive ways rather than passing an Enabling Law.

A 46 month lame duck period seems to be among the better possible outcomes of a Trump presidency.

C'mon, man...you're a Manhattanite;  you've been watching as much TrumpVision over the years as anyone.  You know this guy.  You know how he does things--and it doesn't matter if he's got a 40 point lead, or he's fighting for his life.
You know how this is all going to end.  A Trumpian liquidation of assets, only this time of biblical proportions.

I'm worried that idiot will start a war with North Korea or Iran.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

You're in Missouri. Even the best Iranian or Nork missile can't hit you.

When the birds are in the air and on their way to Soviet Norkistan, you think the two powers not named South Korea that share a border with the Norks, are going to read a Tweet from Der Furor and accept nuclear strikes in a neighboring state?

May have to worry about missiles in Missouri after all.  Just not Iranian or Nork missiles.

Just a limited nuclear war would be catastrophic.  God only knows what would happen if Seoul and Tokyo were blasted to bits.  If we got off with just the Great Depression 2.0 we'd be lucky.  Worldwide poverty, dictatorships sprouting up across the West, civil wars.  Steven Bannon probably would get hard thinking about it.
