No, that is not why.  Alcohol is not banned because banning it creates greater risks.

In defense of washing eggs, it's not just an American thing. Canada, Japan, and Australia do it too, to name a few. Its statistically just as safe  as vaccinating chickens and not washing, just a different method. And with the benefit of not having poo on your store bought eggs :P

Also, i think sweden does it too, and scandies can't be wrong :lol:
