If Chicago doesn't fix the horrible "carnage" going on, 228 shootings in 2017 with 42 killings (up 24% from 2016), I will send in the Feds!

Can I be: Urban Prefect?

Dunno what moron sent that tweet, but my president has already assured me that there is no carnage in Chicago, because it ended at 12:11 pm on Fri Jan 20th.  When Trump finds out that this someone is claiming he is a liar, he will come down on this tweeter like the wrath of Hell itself.

Chicago must be punished though because his rally was disrupted!

that was conditioned on unity. I haven't seen a lot of that lately, either here or on social media, so how can you expect the murders to stop?

That wasn't conditioned on anything.  It was an affirmative statement that the carnage had ended, no qualifiers.  If Trump isn't a blatant liar, there is no carnage.

I appreciate your subtle change of shtick, but you're only marginally better at this one than you were at previous one.  Maybe for the next iteration you should just try playing it straight?

if you read the overall message, we're unstoppable once unified. carnage in chicago, therefore, may not happen unless the american people are unified. the carnage referred to in the speech was "American carnage," not "chicago carnage." the carnage of america as a whole has ended with trump's inauguration, but the specific instances of carnage will naturally remain, until unity.

Oh yeah, he's a great unifier.

I honestly thought you went for irony there.  If that wasn't a (very unclever) attempt at irony, then I managed to give you too much credit.  How that was possible I have no idea.

Read some articles on German politicians thinking that Trump is not bullshitting but means everything he says. Which in turn means that our government now considers to prepare for a trade war with our biggest trade partner...

I don't know...maybe Minsky and Capetan Mihali and other Manhattanstanis and Mid-Atlantic/East Coasters of a certain age can agree with me on this--and perhaps it's been the fact that Donald Trump has often ebbed and flowed in and out consistently of the sphere of pop culture/media silliness/celebrity--Howard Stern, Spy Magazine, talk shows, Playboy interviews, Bloom County, the books, the gossip pages, Saturday Night Live when Phil Hartman did his impersonation for fuck's sake, the social circles of New York and its politics in general, which you just can't help but keep one eye on--but for those of us that have managed to have had Donald J. Trump on our radars since the 1980s, none of this is surprising.  He's just managed to get meaner, nastier, courser and fall for the goofy conspiracy shit harder as he's gotten older.

After all, Donald Trump's Been Saying The Same Thing For 30 Years.

So yeah, Germany:  you're on your own.  My suggestion?  Rearmament.  You guys do it so well.  And rearming is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes.

Oh yes.  I remember personally his stunt in the late 90s when he went to play principal at a school in the Bronx and lotteried off a trip to the Nike store inside Trump Tower for some of the kids.  And by reputation the full-page ads he used to take out in the NY Times to put across his socio-political views.  People have been asking him about his political ambitions -- especially to be mayor of NYC, I think (which certainly seemed the most realistic) -- for a long time, definitely since before Giuliani, since Giuliani pretty much shared his vision for the city and mostly made it a reality, in terms of chauvinism, real estate speculation, and police brutality, at least.
