I don't think he actually wants to annex us. He just likes being an ass. That and Trudeau outshines him and he can't have that. If PP was leader when trump was re-elected  he might have only picked on Mexico, who knows.

He thought it'd be an easy PR win, plus he's hyperfixated on tariffs this time round for whatever reason. He won't back down now, at best he'll keep calling pauses then talking big.
