Just imagining a victorious Trump walking out of prison as he pardons himself and then stirs up another mob to go after his political opponents in both parties across the country. Scary stuff folks.

Well hopefully we will be ready for them next time.

So will they.

We'll see. I think a large number of the people who went to protest on Jan 6th were not aware they would be storming any government buildings. If everybody knows that is what is planned to go down, it will certainly be a different sort of group that shows up and probably not as large.

Ever the optimist. :)

I am probably too pessimistic myself. :)

I think there's probably a lot more people who would join now knowing they would overthrow the government and replace it with some theocracy.  It would counter balance those who prefer to stay at home.

I think any likely Republican president would give Trump a pardon.  It's an easy way to suck up to that base without being Trump.

It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

I assume he thinks posting this is benefitial, somehow? :hmmm:

It's a call to prepare for armed insurrection.

Is this just crazy talk to whip up engagement, or does America have a domestic terrorism problem?

Last time we had a violent invasion of the Capitol building and an attempt to kidnap the governor of Michigan.  There are still plenty of crazies out there.

Right now only Ramaswamy has promised to pardon Trump if elected.  Judging by DeSantis's response (politicization of the DOJ) it seems he would be likely to (with the caveat that the world looks quite different from inside the Oval Office than outside.)  Hutchison and Pence have gone the "No man above the law" route and Christie has (quite rightly) pointed out the Trump did this to himself and had every opportunity to avoid this; so I don't think they would.  I'm not sure about the other contenders.
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

POTUS DeSantis won't pardon Trump IMO, unless Trump bends the knee in some meaningful way. He won't say he's not pardoning him, and may even promise to pardon him "at some point", but if he's in power my bet is he doesn't pardon Trump without extracting something out of him. He's not going to set Trump loose to bad mouth him or undermine him or etc.

Isn't Trump basically now a cornered animal? His only way out is to be elected POTUS again and pardon himself, right? This could become very nasty....
