I dunno, man. Mueller getting fired might cost them 5-10% votes across the board in 2018. Big risk for little gain for congressional GOP.

I'm not sure there are that many GOP voters who are liable to change their votes based on what happens to Mueller, and probably the big goal of the media offensive is to reduce that number further.  The more you hit the legitimacy of Mueller, the more you're down to just the usual suspects either being outraged or cheerful about the move. 

Combination of some GOP voters staying home and Dem voters voting who wouldn't have could cause that swing without anyone changing their vote.

Fox News has recently ramped up its frenzied rhetorical war against Special Counsel Robert Mueller and the FBI in general, with prime-time hosts (and Trump pals) Jeanine Pirro and Sean Hannity calling, night after night, for Mueller to be fired and the organization to be purged of partisans.

On Saturday evening, Jesse Watters and the network's chyron writers went above and beyond even the usual Fox bombast.

"We may now have proof the investigation was weaponized to destroy his presidency for partisan political purposes and to disenfranchise millions of American voters," Watters said. "Now, if that's true, we have a coup on our hands in America."

As Watters interviewed Kellyanne Conway, who stood in front of the White House and joined in Watters' condemnations, the chyron aped his ominous phrase.

They know he's watching, and they know how easy it is to get him to do what he sees on TV.  And Fox's Trump Wisperers are going to keep goading him until he does what they tell him to do.
