A jury has convicted the guy of murder.  He tried to plead guilty to a manslaughter charge but the request was turned down by Department of Justice.  In the past few mornings, every time I drove to work I saw tons of policemen escorting a bus on its way to the court.  Must be this nutjob.  He is considered highly dangerous and mentally unstable.  The police stopped traffic along the way to make sure nobody got close to the bus. 

The judge has yet to hand down the sentence but I seldom see a convicted murderer here get anything less than life.

It is all over the news here but the local reaction isn't really that great.  It is committed by an expat against women on foreign maid visas.  No locals are involved.  We'll do everything we can to make sure the guy is locked up for the rest of his life, but our blood isn't really boiling over this.

The empathy shown by the people of Hong Kong is truly remarkable.
