Came across this chart of what different languages think animals sound like. The French chicken is my favourite.

Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

I could never understand English-speaking pigs.  Where the hell does that "oink" come from anyway?  Has anyone ever heard a pig say "oink", or anything resembling that?

Any sound pronounced in the back of the throat is going to be difficult to transliterate.  How would you write a snore for example?  Most cartoons write "ZZZZZ" but that's not really close.

How many pigs have you known?
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

How do you spell the grunting sound they more normally make?
In English that is. No Dutch Gs or french anything allowed.

You can somewhat hear the oink with smaller pigs.
