I find Japanese stuff tends towards the opposite. A lot more... normal and real than the "OMG SOOOO GOOD. I CANT BELIEVE I AM DOING SEX" American stuff.
It's kind of necessary really given censorship rules meaning they can't rely on views of naughty bits to excite people.

I don't really see the reluctance thing as being everywhere in Japanese porn. It certainly is there; they've a unhealthy love of school girl stuff. But generally its quite normal. Though yes, Japanese girls do tend to make noises that are kind of odd if you're not used to it.
