The Star Wars prequels are a guilty pleasure for me, but this scene at the end of Ep. II gave me shivers (despite the GCI-ness).

technically, yes, the Thrawn trilogy is not part of canon.  However, it's not impossible that they would chose to integrate it in the SW universe.  If there's a passive line about "Thrawn" in the next movie, I suspect many SW fans will have an orgasm in theater :P
