Interesting story.  Didn't know ex-confederates made it to Brazil is such numbers (it has to have been more than one or two families)

Quote"They all take part in stereotypically southern things like square dances, eating fried chicken and biscuits, and listening to George Strait,"

interesting view of the South.  Does that stereotype holds up? :)
I don't do meditation.  I drink alcohol to relax, like normal people.

If Microsoft Excel decided to stop working overnight, the world would practically end.

Square dances, not any more.  Fried chicken and biscuits, absolutely.  George Strait, I guess.

Btw you'll get pilloried for posting this since it's been posted a couple times in the past.

Yeah, that part is sort of like saying that things like breathing oxygen or taking a leak is stereotypical southern behavior.

Fried chicken is okay, but it has to be perfect.  I prefer grilled.  Southern style biscuits do nothing for me.

Also, apparently Cooter has released a statement on Facebook (in all caps) defending the confederate flag.  Unless that's an elaborate ruse on the part of my friend that shared it.

How many other Cooters are there?

In the picture with the story they have Missouri flag, but the blue is so dark it looks black.  It gives the appearance of upside down Imperial German flag.  Also, who's George Strait?
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011
