I once had a British teacher argue that Spanish is totally wrong for rock due to how our word stressing works.

I like the Spanish cover of Hotel California. That might have been Mexican though, do they stress differently?

The basics are the same, the execution may differ.

To be frank I think my teacher was just being racist

I find Spanish is one of the few languages in which I like Hip Hop, though.

He sings in a VERY affected way for a Spaniard. But they are one of my favorite Spanish rock bands.

There's oozles of decent rock acts around here, though. We had some pretty great punk bands in the 80s.

EDIT: while looking for a decent video of it I also came across Dorothée - Les Petits Ewoks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJpa-2ygp5w

Ewoks...

Some things are not always better in the past, even children programs. ;)
NB: Dorothée is the most famous children TV program host for the thirty-somethings and forty-somethings generations in France. I guess I preferred her when she introduced an episode of a Japanese cartoon.

I guess her German counterpart would be Anke Engelke who later turned into an obnoxious comedian (but then I find almost all German "comedians" obnoxious and insufferable).

In the 60s/70s it was common for English songs to have a German cover that was often as popular if not more so than the original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c10uwHTcmoQ Or this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcSXzuocFZI

Here's a later example that didn't prove quite as popular as the original, though. ;)

I'd gladly trade ability to spell weird African city names with a hot tub anyway.

That Spanish song is pretty cool, but I can still kinda see what the teacher meant. It seems there are parts where it might sound better if he cut off a syllable earlier.

My wife had Grey's Anatomy paused on the TV this morning. It was an outdoor shot where you could see the I-5 superstructure, a generic fish market and the Space Needle in the distant background. The camera angle was clearly showing the freeway from the west side looking east, which would have meant in that shot, the Space Needle would have been in the middle of Lake Washington. I know they moved it's position in the skyline for Frasier too and a couple other examples.

What other landmarks get relocated by filmmakers just so they can be in the shot?
