Or alternatively they could work as a waitress or in a supermarket (or indeed in porn!) saving up to go to some sort of vocational training, become a dental assistant or something like that, and be earning 60-70K or more until they retire. Hard work, but plenty of people do that.

Not everyone is cut out for school.
And even those who are rarely make that much.

It isn't really that difficult to join one of the lower middle class professions. They are typically understaffed. Problem generally is that most people willing to put actual effort into creating a career try to do something that has a shot at greater satisfaction - scraping teeth for the rest of your life puts people off.

Those who don't wish to put effort into a career tend to drift into the service occupations that require no schooling.

Okay so why the fuck Tim has not opened a new thread about the monolith-like object found on Mars by Italians? One of the moonlanders, Armstrong or Buzz also allegedly said that he spotted such objects on satellite pictures of Phobos as well.
Because that's nonsense.  Italians are retards, and couldn't find their asses.
Pretty much.

That's not very much, considering the short "working life". Can't retire on 60-70K over maybe 10 -15 years or so.
An alternative to working on contract is to freelance, where you don't get the steady check but you can grab as much work as you want.  One actress interviewed (Katie Morgan) said contract stars might work on 2 movies a month whereas she might work on 15.

OSSUM!  I just found a fossil in my backyard while I was walking the dog.  It's a fossilized scallop of some sort, about 2 inches across... the fossil is the entire scallop (both halves), closed.  I just spend some time washing and cleaning it to make sure it ain't just a regular scallop that (somehow) ended up here.  It looks like it's quartz or something in that the topmost layer of the rock is very vaguely translucent.

You must first chart the position and strata before removing the fossil!

I'd take a shovel to the fossil, bust it up and bury the remnants.

Just watched part of "Women on Top," HBO documentary on the porn industry.  One agent said a contract star makes about 60-70K (this was in 2004) and works maybe 4 days a month.

That's not very much, considering the short "working life". Can't retire on 60-70K over maybe 10 -15 years or so.
They're largely uneducated women with no prospects other than their hotness.
They can work in a supermarket from 18-65 or they can earn good money for a decade or two before they start doing typical low grade work.
Its pretty good I think.

Or alternatively they could work as a waitress or in a supermarket (or indeed in porn!) saving up to go to some sort of vocational training, become a dental assistant or something like that, and be earning 60-70K or more until they retire. Hard work, but plenty of people do that.

The problem I suspect is that the (comparatively) big money coming in when you are young tends to spoil you for boring hard work for less (initial) money. In most careers, you start with small money and work your way to the big money; porn has a bit of an opposite trajectory. Ideally one would use one's porn income to gain the education and requirements for a lasting post-porn career, but I suspect most of 'em don't.

I often wonder why those hot women don't just marry the rich.

The sort of person who would marry a woman because she's hot wouldn't be rich for very long.

I passed my Illinois English Literature Content Exam.

Scores were from 100-300 and my scores were:

Reading: 269
Writing and Research: 295
Speaking and Listening: 275
Literature: 300 (Perfect!)

Overall: 284

You need a 240 in all content areas to pass, and an overall score of 240 to pass.

  Nicely done!  Will this lead to a teaching gig or library/research work of some type?
