Welp.  I went to the driving range for the first time in at least a year today, and seem to have developed a semi-regular slice that gets just NASTY as the distance increases.  Somewhere between 150 and 180 that thing takes a hard right and is just gone.  I should still go play as planned tomorrow during the peak time.  "You fuckers behind us can wait while I spend an hour looking for my ball in the woods over there."

On the plus side though, toward the end of the bucket when I was just tired of the shit and all pissy and bitchy etc, and so just lining it up and swinging, it got a lot better.  I actually hit the 185 marker, which was straight out in front of me and what I was using as an aim point, with one of them, so....that's alright.  I don't swing as hard as I used to, I don't think, so I might need to start thinking about switching from a stiff flex to a regular on that driver.  Should help.  Or I could stop being a lazy turd and actually start working out again.  Getting the clubs reshafted is easier.

I seem to have fixed whatever the problem was.  Chilled out with the grip and tried to make sure I was rotating my shoulders properly, etc.  I still can't hit the hybrids at all for some crazy reason though.

Anyway, everything else I was swinging was going right toward what I was aiming for.  Yi: 230ish in the air today

Just read an article in The Atlantic about the well-known decision of the SEC to increase the leverage ratios of investment banks from 12-1 to 33-1 in 2004, which everyone agrees is one of the root causes of the meltdown.

Turns out it's not true.

Leverage ratios are a little outdated and simplistic measure anyway.  Derivatives contain a lot of hidden leverage, and a lot of liquidity risk.  Being well-capitalized only partially insures you against a shitstorm.

I get some wonderful student reviews for my Western Civ classes.  Some of the best reading all year.

The first episode of Emma was absolutely fantastic. The gentleness and reserve of it all really watered my petunias.

I feel almost a guilt at watching so many good things lately, as if I am depleting a finite reserve, but my backlog is truly massive. It's comforting to know there's always great stuff around the corner.

Between that and the idea of people you can see every day that you'll always be happy to see, life is good. I'm not even that rustled about having going to Japan anymore.

It can't be helped...We'll have to use 'that'

Antideluvians - In VtM these are ancient vampires who survived the flood, essentially the grandchildren of Cain the first vampire, they are the founders of all modern vampire clans and wield god like power.

It's Ante, not Anti. Antidiluvian would be someone against floods. :P
Winner of THE grumbler point.
