I just got back from Jeju island, Korea's semi-tropical paradise. I think I ate some bad seafood on either Wed or Thurs, because I spent all day Friday throwing up or lying in bed. The worst part was when I thought I had thrown up all I could, then suddenly my stomach serves up a fresh batch of bile and stomach acid.   :x
I still have a headache and feel kinda crummy, but not as bad as yesterday. Still, I'm not touching seafood for at least a week, especially anything raw.

Other than that, it was fun.
Want to hit Seoul next Friday?
It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

My flight leaves at 10:25am on Sat, so if I go out I likely won't be out all night; I'll probably grab a taxi back sometime after midnight i guess.

We can check out Ting Tings - it's run by a former manager at Gogos; it's much nicer than Gogos IMO.

The real world fails.

Friend: My dog is at doggy hospital right now. She had cataracts in her eyes.
Me: Darn Armenians.
Everyone:
Is this a reference to something or just a random joke?

Don't tell me you don't get it. Aren't you a history teacher?

He probably mixed up cataracts and cataphracts.

Yay!  My dad didn't get laid off today.  If he had he would have lost his insurance and we couldn't pay for all the expensive pills keeping him alive.  So that's good.
Wouldn't he have COBRA?
I don't think that joining a fictional terrorist group is the answer.

QuoteParamount released The Wrath of Khan on VHS and Beta in 1983. Unlike contemporary releases, Paramount sold the VHS for $39.95, more than $40 below other movie cassette prices.

WTF? 80+$ for a movie? I shy from DVDs that are over 10 EUR.

Either mixed them up, or thought that made a suitable pun.

Back in the day movie studio's figured they were only selling to video rental stores, so priced their movies much, much higher.  Of course eventually they figured there was more money to be made selling to consumers (but that they wouldn't spend $100 on a VHS movie) so lower prices.

And I hesitate to spend more than $5 on a movie...

Hell, I remember the VHS for Hunt for Red October to be a $99.99.

Most VHS movies were that price where they first came out.  My dad got us a VCR back in the late '70's, pretty sure he said he paid ~$1600 for it.

He also got a pirated copy of Star Wars, before TESB came out.  I was the most popular boy in school for a couple of years.  :nerd:

If I'd paid $100 for a VHS...wow. Consider that they go for $2 or so now....

Yeah, but you'd have gotten a good 20-30 years worth of watching already.

Though, you're right, nobody's going to pay that much. That's why people would tape movies off the tv.  :D
