Yeah it was around the 60s. According to wiki some bright sparks then brought it back around 1990 believing it was OK afterall.

Anyone know when thalomide got banned?  I've seen people in their mid 20s that look like thalomide babies.

I think the thalidomide "generation" was basically born late 50's/early 60's.  And it was actually never prescribed in the US.

I don't think there are actually any genuine thalidomide babies in the States, just Western Europe and Canada.  It was never approved by the FDA here.

Just learned a democratic congressman from Penn. is a former 3 star adimiral.
An excuse not to vote for him if ever there was one.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.

I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

Somewhat.
But also there should be a clear seperation between the military and the civil authorities.  Military men former or not should be allowed nowhere near positions of civil power.
I can't think how to explain it. Its just...wrong. Military men should remain military men and be respected (or not) for that, not go for other power. You never see that kind of thing in the UK (these days)).

The relative lack of military experience in congress is a direct cause of many of America's poor strategic decisions as of late. If there were more veterans in congress the nation would be better off.

Yes, for instance the Congress was full of veterns in the late 1960's and late 1970's and was no major strategic missteps there.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Being a good (or high ranking) commander doesn't translate into being a good politician. I'd much rather see retired military personnel move into administration.

Being a good politician doesn't translate into being a good legislator either.

I think military leaders should be looked at with the same skepticism anyone running for office deserves.
