It probably works better in the US, because people pronounce Volkswagen it with a "v" rather than an "f".  It's still a bad sign when you have to have to issue denials that it's not a joke.

They've been invited the last few years. IIRC this is the... 3rd time running that they participate.

Sheilbh

They're the home of Kylie so they were always in Eurovision spiritually if not physically.

They participate but don't compete, IIRC.

Americavision ("The American Song Contest") is supposedly starting later this year, btw.

Don't they already have like 2 or 3 televised American song competitions?
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".

Nope, they compete just as any other country. They've even finished in the Top 3 a couple of times.

Seems like there's 20.  Maybe the hook is it's a state competition.  Or maybe the hook is they dress up iin cute little costumes and choreograph some dance moves.

Yeah, it's going to be a straight up state contest arranged in a March Madness style tournament.

QuoteIn the run-up to the live shows, Propagate and the American Song Contest production team will launch The American Song Contest Academy, a group of U.S.-based music professionals representing multiple genres who will gather juries of artists and music industry figures, who will join with regional audiences to select the top talent from all 50 states. The artists will then go head-to-head with acts from other states in a series of 5-10 televised qualifier competitions, leading up to the semi-finals and then the primetime March Madness-style Grand Finale.

Why are the chrome and firefox logos in the centre of the stage?

It looks to me like a future version of a Civilization council.
