Maybe these are waves cast by the already beginning power struggle for post-Putin times? I remember reading not too long ago that in order to keep the oligarchs committed to him, Putin avoided raising up any potential heirs. Which means once he is gone there is no clear successor. Never a good thing in a feudal monarchy.
