Read an interesting article on this the other week. Will see if I can find it later.
It hypothesised that a lot off the odd (lack of) sex related trends in Japan are not due to lol, wacky Japan, but rather Japan just being ahead of the curve.

japan was never bogged down with Judeo-Christianity

I think Tyr isn't talking about the wacky Japanese porn, but rather the large number of seemingly asexual Japanese youths.

Jo Jo's comment still makes sense, if maybe not in the way he intended it.

Someone, maybe Camille Paglia, said that post-Christian guilt is a big part of what makes sex fun.  If you never had Christian guilt then you never get the post post-Christian pleasure of breaking the taboo.

I don't get that thought.  I'm a married man, in a monogomous relationship for 14 years now.  I don't have a whiff of guilt about sex.  It's still pretty damn fun.

That's not very Protestant of you.  :bowler:
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

How so?  It's the catholics that have hang-ups about birth control.

Fair enough, but yeah by and large I was referring to not so much japanese pron but the way sex isn't taboo the way it is in the West. I mean there's some kind of phallic shrine where girls have their pictures taken with giant stone penises.
