Ran into a tipping etiquette quandary today...

If one stops by a pizza place and orders to go, and also orders their amazing in-house made gelato to have while one waits (which is served, just like a normal dine-in)...does one tip on the entire order, or just the gelato?

(for the record, I ended up essentially splitting the difference)

Why do you tip on take-out?  Tips are for service - you don't get any service on take out.

I tip the high school girls at Papa Murphy's a buck and stiff the lady at the Chinese place.  I've been getting my Singapore Chow Mei Fun there for 15 years and she has never once said hello to me.
