Annoyances in online shopping.

"Hey, if you want, instead of trying to deliver your order while you're not at home, you can select your preferred pick up location!"

Okay, what have you got?

"Here's a dozen places in your vicnity that are only open while you're at work. Oh, and here's one that's additionally opened for a few hours on Saturday."

Send it to the Saturday location then.

"Sure thing!"

Guess what? The place is closed today, with no explanation, and no one picking up the phone. <_<

Is this a German/Piefke rant about the lack of a packstation-like service in Austria?  :P

Syt

We do have a good network of postal service/DHL packstations in Austria. I have one 3 minutes from my apartment.

However, this delivery is done by Hermes Paketdienst (a German company :P ) who - like UPS and other delivery services - works with a variety of businesses who accept/hand out packages during their business hours.

So blame Piefke Hermes (God of merchants and thieves). Alles in Ordnung! :)

What the fuck. I am in Khartoum, Sudan, and my flight out was cancelled due to poor weather in Istanbul. Now I am stuck in this not particularly nice place.  <_<

Well, ask yourself: What would Kitchener of Khartoum do?

Wow.  Khartoum probably makes my top ten list of places I'd rather not be.

Yeah, it's always "exotic" when you're nice and safe several time zones away.

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011
