German sounds like all the guttural sounds you aren't supposed to make in English.

German is such a lovely language.

My gf speaks it fluently and it's hot af

Would it be as hot if she wasn't wearing jackboots and wielding a whip when she spoke it?

No shit.  My grandfather's German was all grunts and spittle.

I thought that "zug" was the German word for "platoon".
I have ancestors named Zug.

In Pennsylvania Dutch it's been corrupted to 'Zook' and there are a lot of Amish surnamed Zook today.

There's an island named Zug Island in Detroit that was owned by one of my great-great-whatever uncles.  Apparently it's a toxic waste dump now. :)

Well, so's the whole city, basically.

I think that depends on the region.

FunkMunk, is your gf by any chance from the south?

I meant a South German accent.  To my ear it is a lot less guttural.   :)

Yeah, I think the thing is that she doesn't actually have a coherent German accent though unless she learned perfectly under the direction of just one instructor.

Wouldn't she speak with the accent where she she lived in Germany for those years?

I supposed if all of her learning of German was done there (which seems unlikely). After all, I don't speak with any sort of English accent. :P

You knew that answer was coming.

And my grandfather was from Baden-Württemberg.  So guttural, he needed a bib.
