There is a war going on. The Mackerel War.

I bought some mackarels for the bbq for lunch yesterday. I don't know if they'd been caught by Icelanders.

With the bounty of the Pacific at your doorstep and you have to burn the extra fossil fuel to get Atlantic mackarel.  [/locavore mode]

They could well have been Pacific mackarel. I didn't ask.

Hilarious but also kind of scary- my gf recieved a concerned phone call last night from a friend of hers. This friend had spotted me out with my students and took it as me being out with other girls.

I hate arguments like that. I'm all for eating local food but mainly because it should be fresher and the whole what grows together, goes together thing.

Same with organic and free-range, the way to win me over is through my stomach not my conscience.

Edit: On the other hand I'm really annoyed mackerel's become popular now. For years I was the only person under 70 who bought it from fish counters. Now everyone loves it and suddenly it's no longer considered sustainable :(

I'm going to branch out into other oily fish.

The girls were 16.
One seems as though she might have potential down the line. Generally average.

It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

You're allowed to socialize with your students? It's dangerous.

You need to run into that situation yourself with some disabled bikers, only to find out they're Juggalos.
