Is there any good place to find costs of living in England (other than London)?

Whereabouts are you in Camberwell Ark? It's not terrible for commuting if you are at the Oval or Denmark Hill ends but otherwise you're dependant on a bus to the Elephant.

I go to a pub quiz at the Cambria, the other side of Ruskin Park, semi-regularly.

You me and Shelf should so a Languish Sarf Lahndan branch meeting one of these days.

I'll be moving near to Myatts Field - so near the Oval end (it will be the closest tube). I'm game for a Sahf Lahndan meet!

Oh I could do that. There is a small strip close by.

@Sheilbh - No worries there. Camden Town reminds me of a place I dislike in NYC (St. Marks Place).  I still need to really get my head around funds but I have been thinking something like Islington or Hackney.

What kind of area are you looking for in terms of a vibe?

Good question. I'm thinking enough happening in the neighbourhood that I don't feel like I need to constantly take long trips out (particularly in sense of restaurants/places to go out at night). At same time want to balance cost but also commute to work (near Bond Street tube stop).

That said I know I am not a super big fan of Camden Town nor Shoreditch vibes. I might stake a hipster in the latter.

I would suggest then that you need to look south of the river somewhere in zone 2.

Brixton might suit you - there's a real community feel and lots of interesting bars and restaurants (admittedly because it is getting richer now, the chains are moving in).

Interesting as that's actually where I spent mort of the day.  Stared at Kennington tube stop then made my way down to Brixton, acros to Clapham and then back up through Vauxhall.

Avoid Clapham, unless you like juiced-up Australians and South Africans who list "The gym" under interests.

I think that's what you told me when that online quiz told me to live there. :D

Telling the black guy to move to Britton... :hmm:

1982 just called for you Tyr. It wants its lazy stereotype back. It'll give you an "x" in return.

Most of the people I saw today in Brixton were decidely not white.

Brixton is famously a Caribbean neighbourhood. When I moved there in 1990 it was about 75% black, now it's probably less than 40% although a lot of Jamaicans come into the area to grocery shop etc.
