Well, the point some reviewers make is, "You gave that away for free, and now, for the 25th anniversary, you re-release it for 29.99, and the only major change is adding DRM." :P
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

Just read Denuvo mention on Steam was a mistake.

Thanks for the correction. :) Still, they used to give it away for free, and now charge 29.99. If it had been 5 or 10 EUR I might have picked it up just because. But not shelling out 30 bucks for a simple, unpolished re-release. :D

I've never played that franchise. What's the gameplay like and how good is it?

Also, would you recommend getting some, none, or all of the DLC?

For Anno 1800, keep it easy with the base game and maybe some of the cosmetic DLCs.

Anno games are production chain games with flavor.
